Anthropic Launches Claude Sonnet 5.5, Outperforming Opus 5.5 in Coding Tasks

Anthropic has released Claude Sonnet 5.5, an upgraded version of its mid-tier model. The new model offers a 30% increase in speed compared to its predecessor and excels in daily tasks, bug fixing, and document creation. Priced at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, it is half the cost of Opus 5.5 while consuming one-third fewer tokens per task. In Terminal-Bench 4 testing, Sonnet 5.5 achieved a score of 70.6%, surpassing Opus 5.5 at 66.4% and OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra at 59.1%.
