OpenAI Reopens $200 Pro Subscription with Halved API Usage Credits

OpenAI is set to resume new subscriptions for its $200 Pro plan, but with a revised usage calculation that effectively cuts the equivalent API spending power by half compared to the previous version. While OpenAI has reduced API costs for the GPT-6 Sol and Luna models, the flagship GPT-6 Astra model remains priced at $50 per million output tokens. Thibault Sottiaux, responsible for Codex and ChatGPT, stated that the adjustment aims to reflect increased model efficiency, though users relying primarily on Astra will see their total token capacity significantly reduced.
