Dutch Authorities Arrest Former Hacker Linked to ShinyHunters

Pepijn van der Stap, a 24-year-old previously convicted cybercriminal known as "Umbreon," was arrested in the Netherlands on September 16 on suspicion of assisting the hacking collective ShinyHunters. Van der Stap, who currently serves as the offensive security lead at Neo Security, is scheduled to appear in the Rotterdam District Court on September 29, with reports indicating potential US involvement in the case. Shortly after his arrest, ShinyHunters claimed responsibility for a data breach involving 5,000 FBI agents, an attack that featured a reference to the hacker's online moniker.
