LG Electronics Taps Samsung Foundry for AI Appliance Chips

LG Electronics has commissioned Samsung Electronics to manufacture AI chips for home appliances, aiming to reduce its reliance on TSMC. CoAsia SEMI will develop two IoT chips for LG under a 31 billion KRW project running from July 2026 to December 2030. This initiative is part of the South Korean government's 'K-On-Device AI Semiconductor Technology Development' program, which has a total budget of approximately 800 billion KRW.
