Sberbank Plans to Include ETH and USDT in Crypto-Collateralized Loan Program
Sberbank, Russia's largest bank, intends to expand its crypto-collateralized lending services to include Ethereum and Tether, pending regulatory approval. Deputy Chairman Anatoly Popov stated that the bank will integrate these assets following the implementation of new Russian crypto regulations effective September 1. While the Central Bank of Russia previously listed BTC, ETH, and USDT as tradable assets, the inclusion of USDT faces potential sanction-related risks due to Tether's ability to freeze assets.
