OpenAI and Synopsys Partner to Develop GPT-Synopsys AI Model for Chip Design

OpenAI and EDA giant Synopsys have entered a multi-year partnership to develop GPT-Synopsys, an AI model specialized for semiconductor design. The model integrates with Synopsys EDA tools to automate chip design tasks, including power, performance, and area optimization, while running on OpenAI's infrastructure. The companies confirmed that customer design data will not be used for model training. The collaboration follows a revenue-sharing model and is already being tested with select semiconductor industry leaders.
