Petrobras Utilizes Cardano to Track Sustainable Fuel Environmental Claims

Brazilian energy company Petrobras has developed two blockchain applications on the Cardano network to verify environmental claims for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel. Developed in partnership with the Cardano Foundation and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), the tools aim to improve transparency for emissions data. The SAF tool uses a Book-and-Claim model, issuing standardized tokens called CS-SAF on Cardano to track environmental benefits. The second tool logs the lifecycle of Diesel R, Petrobras' renewable diesel brand, to assist with Scope 3 emissions reporting.
