MetaMask Staking is winding down its Ethereum validators within the Lido protocol to address a security incident. While MetaMask acts as both a node operator and a staking interface provider, the exit process is expected to take between 15 and 45 days. Lido's standard procedures ensure funds are moved back in an orderly manner, and no direct impact on stETH holders has been reported. Node operators typically initiate such exits to mitigate risks like slashing when infrastructure security is potentially compromised.
