Zcash Founder Announces Over $8 Million in Retroactive Grants to Contributors

Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox announced on October 1 that the project has distributed over $8 million in retroactive grants. The funding includes rewards for contributors who protected users during this year's AI vulnerability crisis. Wilcox stated that the initiative demonstrates Zcash's sustainable, capture-resistant self-funding and governance mechanisms, with plans to conduct similar grants multiple times annually. The process involved organizations such as Valar, ZODL, and Vizor, as well as token holders participating in an anonymous vote involving approximately $3 billion worth of ZEC.
