MSCI Launches New AI Supply Chain Indices for Targeted Institutional Investment

MSCI has introduced a series of new indices focused on the AI supply chain, enabling institutional investors to allocate capital and hedge risks across specific segments like physical infrastructure and AI applications. Jana Haines, head of MSCI indices, noted that investors are increasingly seeking granular exposure by sector, size, and geography. Bain & Company estimates that by 2031, the industry supporting AI infrastructure will require $6 trillion in annual revenue, while existing applications may only contribute $1.2 trillion, creating a gap that encourages the development of new financial tools and hedging strategies.
