Bank of Japan Tankan Survey: Manufacturing Sentiment Hits 8.5-Year High

The Bank of Japan released its September Tankan survey on October 1, 2026. The business sentiment index for large manufacturing firms rose to plus 24, marking a 2-point improvement from June and the highest level in eight and a half years. Conversely, sentiment among non-manufacturing firms declined for the first time in five quarters.
