Metaplanet, a Tokyo-listed company (3350) and US OTC stock (MTPLF), has become Asia's largest corporate Bitcoin holder with 43,000 BTC. Led by former Goldman Sachs derivatives trader Simon Gerovich, the firm pivoted from the hotel business to a Bitcoin-centric treasury strategy in April 2024 to hedge against the yen's devaluation and Japan's high debt. The company also maintains plans for 'The Bitcoin Hotel' in Tokyo, a hub for Bitcoin education and community engagement.
