Chainlink Launches CCIP 2 for Customizable Cross-Chain Security

Chainlink has released CCIP 2, a major upgrade to its cross-chain interoperability protocol. The new version allows enterprises to add custom security verification checks on top of Chainlink's default 16-node network, enabling firms to run their own validators or hire third-party providers like Infosys or Nethermind. This follows the April hack of Kelp DAO, which lost approximately $292 million in rsETH due to a single-validator failure on a bridge running on LayerZero. The upgrade also shifts Chainlink's risk management network from an independent node to an optional validator service. Existing users have been migrated, and Aave and Maple have begun adopting new features.
