Senate Says Iran Leans on Tether's USDT — Is Its $550 Million Freeze Record Enough?

Senate Democrats on the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, led by Sen. Richard Blumenthal, found that 84% of more than 800 sanctioned Iran-linked crypto wallets used USDT exclusively or predominantly, calling it a primary payment tool for Tehran that also surfaced in networks funding Hezbollah. Tether said it has helped freeze about $550 million in Iran-linked USDT this year, including $344 million in April tied to Iran's central bank and more than $130 million on Tron in July.
