TSMC-Backed VIS Opens Singapore Wafer Fab Amid High AI Demand

Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS), a chip manufacturer backed by TSMC (TSM), held an opening ceremony for its first advanced wafer fab in Singapore on September 28. The facility, a joint venture with NXP Semiconductors named VSMC, is already fully booked due to strong demand for AI infrastructure. The plant, which began trial production in June, will produce interposers for advanced chip packaging to support AI chipmakers like NVIDIA (NVDA), Google, and Broadcom. TSMC holds approximately 19% of VIS.
