U.S. Treasury sanctions Tehran-based BitBank over illicit crypto transfers

The U.S. Treasury has sanctioned BitBank, a cryptocurrency exchange based in Tehran. The exchange is accused of facilitating the transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and processing payments for vessels navigating the Strait of Hormuz.
