SEC Advances Blockchain Integration and Extended Trading Hours for US Markets

The SEC has introduced two major regulatory shifts: extending US stock market trading hours until 11 p.m. on weekdays starting December 6, and granting a five-year exemption for Tokenized Securities Venues (TSV) to trade tokenized US stocks on the blockchain. The extended hours, supported by updates to the Securities Information Processor (SIP), aim to test tokenization as a mechanism for near-instant settlement and continuous market operations.
