Stellar activates Protocol 28 as network hits record throughput and RWA value climbs

Stellar has activated Protocol 28 following a mainnet upgrade vote, introducing tools to streamline smart-contract deployments and data migration. The update includes CAP-85 for atomic code updates across multiple Soroban contracts and CAP-86 for progressive data schema changes. Additionally, CAP-83 improves consensus efficiency by allowing validators to process transaction sets incrementally. The network recently achieved a record sustained throughput of over 211 transactions per second, according to Chainspect.
