Zcash confirms NU7 upgrade for November with tripled block speed

The Zcash development team has scheduled the NU7 mainnet upgrade for November 5, which will reduce block times from 75 seconds to 25 seconds while maintaining the existing halving mechanism. Testnet activation is set for October 6. The upgrade includes the integration of the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM), which will reintroduce miner supply starting in February 2031. Following the announcement, ZEC rose 20% in 24 hours, outperforming the broader privacy coin sector.
