Number of banks registered under EU MiCA doubles to nearly 23%

The number of banks on the ESMA MiCA register increased from approximately 40 on June 26 to 80 by September 16. While the total number of Crypto Asset Service Providers (CASPs) rose to 349, the share of non-bank providers declined. Germany is a primary driver of this growth, with institutions like Deutsche Bank (Deutsche Bank) also preparing for digital asset custody services. Banks can utilize a notification procedure under Article 60 of MiCA to bypass standard CASP authorization.
