Neovim Bitcoin donation address holds 10 BTC, potentially forgotten for years

The Bitcoin donation address displayed on the official website of the open-source text editor Neovim received 10 BTC in March 2023, which remains untouched. As of September 18, the address balance is 10.89 BTC, valued at approximately $850,000. While the Neovim team has not publicly responded to inquiries, records indicate the project shifted its official donation channel to OpenCollective in 2020. Community members on Hacker News speculate that the team may have lost access to the private keys or simply forgotten to remove the address from the site.
