Ethereum Institutional Supports EIP-8198 for Faster Block Times

The non-profit organization Ethereum Institutional has backed the EIP-8198 'Quick Slots' proposal from Ethlabs, which aims to replace the fixed 12-second slot duration with a configurable parameter. The initiative seeks to accelerate transaction confirmation and price updates onchain. Developers plan to transition to a more flexible system, with an initial target of 10 seconds, while adjusting gas limits and blob parameters to maintain throughput.
