NVIDIA officially supports Rust for CUDA, strengthening its ecosystem

NVIDIA has announced official support for Rust in CUDA, allowing developers to write GPU kernel code directly in Rust. The company introduced two paths: cuda-oxide for SIMT and cutile-rs for the Tile programming model. By joining the Rust Foundation as a platinum member, NVIDIA aims to integrate itself into the core of the Rust ecosystem. While the projects are currently in early stages, they are designed to leverage Rust's ownership rules to prevent memory-related bugs and race conditions at compile time, further solidifying the CUDA moat against competitors.
