Zcash Holders Vote to Accelerate Block Times and Retain Halving Schedule

Zcash token holders have voted to reduce the block interval from 75 seconds to 25 seconds as part of the upcoming NU7 upgrade, with 99.9% of participating votes in favor. Additionally, 98.9% of votes supported maintaining the existing halving schedule over a gradual emission model. The block time reduction aims to increase transaction throughput for the Orchard pool while proportionally lowering block rewards to keep total issuance constant.
