US House Ways and Means Committee to Review Digital Asset Tax Bill

The US House Committee on Ways and Means is scheduled to conduct a markup session on September 16 at 10:00 a.m. ET for the Digital Asset Tax Certainty Act (H.R. 10357). The bill proposes comprehensive tax reforms, including a de minimis exemption for transaction fees under $10 and clarified tax treatment for mining and staking income as ordinary income. It also introduces wash-sale rules for certain digital assets, excludes qualified USD-pegged stablecoins from specific tax burdens, and mandates the creation of a voluntary disclosure program for past tax discrepancies. These provisions are generally slated for implementation between 2027 and 2028.
