Balancer Community to Vote on Protocol Liquidation

Balancer Labs co-founder Markus Hardt has proposed a plan to wind down the Balancer DeFi protocol, close the DAO, and distribute approximately $9 million in treasury assets to BAL holders. The proposal, which follows a $128 million hack in November 2025 and unsuccessful restructuring efforts, suggests that users burn their BAL tokens to receive a proportional share of the treasury. A Snapshot vote is scheduled for September 25–29, 2026.
