Mercari subsidiary Mercoin launches auto-purchase feature for BTC and ETH using points

Mercoin, a subsidiary of Mercari, has introduced a new 'point investment' feature starting September 15, 2026. This service allows users to automatically convert free Mercari points into Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH) upon receipt. Users can allocate points to either or both assets, with fractional amounts directed toward BTC. The feature is free to use, though spreads apply to crypto trades. It is being rolled out gradually to Mercari app users, and only free points earned after setting up the feature are eligible for auto-purchase. Mercoin, which launched its crypto trading service in March 2023, has surpassed 4 million accounts as of March 2026.
