CoinDesk: Staked ETH emerging as benchmark yield asset for decentralized economy

According to CoinDesk columnist Ryan Haczynski of GlobalStake, staked ETH is becoming a benchmark asset for measuring on-chain investment returns and risks, comparable to U.S. Treasury yields or SOFR in traditional finance. With the current ETH staking yield at approximately 2.75%, Haczynski suggests that other on-chain yield products must offer sufficient excess returns to compensate for additional risks. Unlike stablecoins, which are influenced by Federal Reserve policy, ETH staking yields are derived directly from network validation activities, and staked ETH has become a widely used collateral asset in DeFi.
