Research: Estimated Cost of Quantum Attacks on BTC and ETH Drops by Over 50%

A new research paper by contributors from Theta Labs, the Ethereum Foundation, and StarkWare indicates that the resources required for critical computational steps in potential quantum attacks against Bitcoin and Ethereum have decreased by more than 50% compared to previous estimates by Google's Quantum AI team. The study proposes a quantum circuit design requiring approximately 1,151 logical qubits and 1.3 million Toffoli gate operations, achieving a score of 1.5 billion, down from Google's previous estimate of 3 billion.
