Consumers Increasingly Favor Debit Cards and Payment Platforms Over Traditional Banking

According to the 2026 ACI Speedpay Pulse Report, consumers are shifting away from traditional banks and credit cards for bill payments in favor of debit cards and direct biller channels. Data indicates that debit card usage rose to 52.7% in 2025, while credit card usage accounted for 41.3%.
