Swedish Tax Agency Demands Over $50 Million in Back Taxes from Crypto Miners

The Swedish Tax Agency has issued tax assessments and penalties totaling approximately $56.5 million to six crypto mining companies in Boden. The firms are accused of using complex corporate structures to disguise mining operations and illegally claim data center tax incentives. This enforcement follows an industry-wide audit conducted between 2024 and 2026, which targeted nine companies nationwide. Hive Digital subsidiary Bikupan Datacenter has initiated financial restructuring and appealed the decision to the Supreme Administrative Court.
