Vitalik Buterin: General-Purpose STARK Performance Exceeds Early Expectations

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated that the Poseidon hash function has become a critical component for modern privacy protocols, enabling efficient client-side SNARK proof generation. He noted that the performance of general-purpose STARKs has surpassed early 2020s projections, with batch computation proof overhead already reduced to triple digits and expected to drop to double digits or lower in the coming years.
