Vitalik Buterin: STARK Proof Overhead Expected to Drop to Double Digits

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated that the Poseidon hash function family remains highly valuable for Ethereum and the broader ecosystem, continuing to play a critical role in modern privacy protocols that require fast client-side SNARK proof generation. He further noted that the proof overhead for high-speed general-purpose STARKs is currently in the hundreds and is expected to decrease to double digits or lower soon, a development that has surpassed earlier projections from the early 2020s.
