US 30-Year Treasury Yield Hits Highest Sustained Levels Since 2006
The US 30-year Treasury yield is experiencing its most severe sustained high since 2006 as the market enters September. Driven by a widening budget deficit, new corporate bond issuance, and anticipation of the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting, investors remain cautious. The yield reached 5.34% in mid-August, the highest since 2007, and has spent 55 trading days above 5% this year, the most since 2006.
