Taichung Hot Pot Chain Owners Suspected of $157 Million Ponzi Scheme

The owners of the Taichung-based hot pot chain Dan Shui Gun, Huang Chun-jui and Hung Yi-ying, have been missing for over 100 days after fleeing Taiwan in late May. The Taichung District Prosecutors Office issued arrest warrants for the couple, their daughter, and their accountant in July, revoking their passports. While local rumors suggest the family may have relocated to Southeast Asia, police have not confirmed their whereabouts. The scheme allegedly promised a 30% annual return on investments, with reports suggesting up to 500 victims and total losses reaching approximately $157 million (5 billion TWD), though official figures remain under investigation.
