Vitalik Buterin: Ethereum Node Synchronization Time Reduced to Under 12 Hours

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated on September 26 that Ethereum node synchronization can now be completed in less than half a day, with disk usage potentially dropping below 0.5 TB under aggressive configurations. This improvement is attributed to EIP-4444 and ongoing optimizations in snapshot synchronization by client teams. Future upgrades, including Glamsterdam, are expected to further enhance synchronization, with Nimbus already adopting new protocols. Buterin noted that while users can point wallet RPCs to local nodes, browser-based dApps may face compatibility issues. Additionally, the Kohaku command-line tool is currently integrating privacy protocols.
