Block Joins x402 Foundation to Integrate Lightning Network for AI Agents

Block has joined the x402 Foundation to provide Bitcoin Lightning Network support for x402, an open payment standard designed for AI agents. The x402 protocol embeds payments directly into HTTP, enabling AI agents to autonomously pay for goods, services, and tools. Block stated that the Lightning Network is well-suited for the billions of instant, low-cost micropayments expected within the emerging agent economy.
