Block Joins x402 Foundation to Integrate Bitcoin Lightning Payments for AI Agents

Block has joined the x402 Foundation, an organization dedicated to developing open standards for payments involving AI agents. Block contributed Bitcoin Lightning payment capabilities to the foundation to provide infrastructure for transactions between individuals, businesses, and AI agents. The x402 Foundation, established under the Linux Foundation in April, also counts Google, Microsoft, AWS, Coinbase, and the Solana Foundation among its supporters.
