Cosmos Hub restarts after network halt to recover $2.2 million in stolen ATOM

Cosmos Hub resumed block production on September 23 following a day-long halt intended to secure assets bridged from Neutron after a governance exploit. The network successfully transferred 1,227,121.37 ATOM, valued at approximately $2.2 million, from an attacker-linked address to a recovery address. While the intervention secured a portion of the funds, an estimated 169,000 ATOM remains unrecovered. The exploit, which originated on Neutron, involved the unauthorized reassignment of administrative rights over 11 smart contracts, leading to total losses estimated at $4.4 million across various assets.
