Alibaba unveils new Zhenwu V900 AI accelerator chip

Alibaba (阿里巴巴) has introduced the Zhenwu V900, an AI accelerator developed by its T-Head division. The chip offers triple the performance of the previous M890 model and is designed for training and inference of large language models. It features 216 GB of memory and supports FP8 and FP4 formats, with commercial production slated for Q1 2027. Alibaba also announced a server super-node system capable of forming clusters of up to 500,000 chips. Furthermore, the company is scaling its Qwen model series, aiming for future versions with 5 to 10 trillion parameters, and is exploring self-improving AI models for tasks such as chip design.
