Huawei's Wang Tao: Ascend 960 chip release moved up to Q1 2027

Huawei Rotating Chairman Wang Tao announced at Huawei Connect 2026 that the Ascend 960 chip series is ahead of schedule, promising a doubling in performance. The Ascend 960DT is now set for release in Q1 2027, three quarters earlier than originally planned, while the Ascend 960PR is scheduled for Q3 2027, one quarter ahead of schedule. Wang confirmed that Huawei will maintain an annual release cycle, with the Ascend 970 planned for 2028 and the Ascend 980 for 2029.
