Micron Unveils World's First 512GB DDR5 Module, Mass Production Set for 2027

Micron has showcased the world's first 512GB DDR5 RDIMM server memory module, featuring speeds up to 9200 MT/s. The module utilizes through-silicon via (TSV) technology for vertical DRAM stacking, allowing for up to 12 TB of memory in a 24-module server configuration. It offers significant power efficiency, consuming 16W compared to 44.2W for four 128GB modules, and provides a 1.4x performance boost in memory-intensive tasks like Spark SVM. Mass production is scheduled for 2027, with pricing yet to be announced.
