PBOC Reports 149.79 Billion Non-Cash Payment Transactions in Q2 2025

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) released its payment system report for the second quarter of 2025. By the end of Q2, there were 15.238 billion bank accounts and 10.068 billion bank cards nationwide. During the quarter, the banking sector processed 149.789 billion non-cash payment transactions totaling 1.365 quadrillion yuan. Electronic payments reached 80.053 billion transactions, with mobile payments accounting for 58.386 billion transactions. Non-bank payment institutions handled 333.845 billion online payment transactions.
