Standard Bank Joins Global Stablecoin Consortium as Sole African Representative
Standard Bank has become the only African financial institution to join a consortium of 21 major global banks and asset managers. The group aims to establish a new entity to issue a U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoin by the first half of 2027. The initiative also intends to expand into other G7 currencies, with the Euro identified as a primary target for future development.
