SK Telecom to Spin Off AI Data Center Business into New Entity SK Horizon

South Korea's largest mobile carrier, SK Telecom, announced plans to spin off its AI data center (AIDC) business into a new independent entity named SK Horizon. The company intends to secure 3.08 trillion KRW (approximately 2.2 billion USD) in external funding. The spin-off is expected to be completed by February 1, 2027, with potential participation from global private equity firm KKR, as well as IMM Investment and Stonebridge Capital.
