UK Crypto Tax Data Reveals Top 240 Filers Account for Over Half of Capital Gains
According to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), 240 individuals in the UK reported over £1 million in crypto capital gains each for the 2024-2025 tax year, totaling £717 million and accounting for more than half of the total reported gains. Out of 17,600 total filers, the aggregate capital gains reached £1.38 billion from £13.8 billion in disposals. The data shows that 65% of filers reported gains below £25,000, contributing only 7% of total gains. Demographically, 87% of crypto taxpayers are male, and 81% are under 54 years old.
