Samsung Faces DDI Supply Shortage for Galaxy Z Fold8

Samsung Electronics is experiencing a supply shortage of display driver ICs (DDI) for its Galaxy Z Fold8 due to higher-than-expected demand. The DDI is designed by Samsung System LSI and manufactured by UMC using a 22nm process, which is currently at full capacity. To address the shortfall, Samsung plans to reallocate DDI inventory originally reserved for next year's development. Additionally, the company is increasing orders for hinges and ultra-thin glass (UTG) components, while demand for the Galaxy Z Flip8 remains in line with expectations.
