Sampura Research Raises $6.5 Million to Develop AI 'Referee' System

Non-profit organization Sampura Research, founded by former Google researchers Rishub Jain and Joshua Jacob, has raised $6.5 million with an additional $4.2 million in committed funding. The project aims to build a human-in-the-loop 'referee' system to monitor AI safety and prevent model malfunctions. Unlike automated AI-on-AI monitoring, Sampura emphasizes continuous human oversight to ensure models do not learn to bypass safety protocols.
