IBM Completes Acquisition of HRL Laboratories to Advance Quantum Computing

IBM announced the completion of its acquisition of HRL Laboratories, a research institution specializing in quantum computing, sensing, and advanced materials. This move strengthens IBM's capabilities in quantum manufacturing and infrastructure. HRL's expertise in silicon-based quantum technology will facilitate collaboration with IBM's quantum foundry, Anderon, to support scalable manufacturing. Former owners Boeing and General Motors will continue to partner with IBM and HRL on quantum applications. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
